Currently we are building a testbed of 5 autonomous vehicles, which will allow us to research a variety formation configurations.
Each vehicle is designed around a powerful Texas Instruments DSP and includes wireless capability allowing it to communicate with other vehicles and a ground station. The vehicles also have color cameras and other assorted sensors.
Geo-location will be handled by an onboard inertial navigation unit, updated periodically from a global reference.
